Jacob Panangat is a Registered Patent Attorney and a member of the California State Bar. He has practiced in the field of intellectual property law since 2017, with a focus on patent prosecution for technologies such as medical devices, mechanical design, manufacturing, software applications, electrical devices, and pharmaceuticals. In addition to aiding Clients to build their IP portfolios, Jacob provides strategic counseling with their business goals and needs in mind. To this end, he performs freedom-to-operate and patentability studies and conducts investor due diligence and patent validity analyses.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Prior to practicing law, Jacob worked as a Process Engineer in the oil industry for 10 years, which included working on facility-related projects for Exxon Mobil, BP, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips. His legal experience includes working as an associate at Wilson Sonsini and Goodwin Procter.
Outside of work, Jacob is an avid all-around sports fan, staying loyal to his roots and supporting the Toronto, Canada teams. He enjoys getting out to the beach and reading a good book when he can, but his spare time is now mostly dominated by spending time with his two kids. He loves to travel and is looking to exponentially increase his passport stamps when the kids are older.
